“Here we are.” Mr. Ollivander said as he handed me a wand. I flicked the wand at a chair and with a poof sound it sprouted long brown hair. I tried not to laugh. “It doesn’t appear that is the wand for you.” Mr. Ollivander observed with an amused smile. I handed him the wand and he went to the back for another. He walked rather slowly back to the counter. This time his face was more serious. Hesitantly and without a word he handed me the wand. I flicked it at the window and a crack ripped up the glass. I heard my mom let out a sigh of relief. Okay, evil wand.
One wand after another only did damage to the shop. By the time he came back with the thirteenth wand I was running out of things to destroy. The second my fingers came in contact with the wand a cool and gentle breeze played with my hair. “Ah, there we are then!” Mr. Ollivander exclaimed happily. “It’s willow and phoenix feather.” He informed us. We paid and went to gather the rest of my things. We got my robes and then the things I would need for potions and then went to get my books. “Boo!” Someone yelled from just behind me. I jumped and spun around. There Hermione stood laughing at me.
“Hermione!” I scolded and hit her arm lightly with one of my books. “Sorry, I couldn’t resist.” She said and regained her composure. We looked around the store and hunted for our books. “So I heard you went to Egypt.” She said while I stared way up the shelf to the book we needed. “Yep, it was really fun. Fred and George tried to shut Percy up in a tomb. Mom was so mad when she found them.” I said and then placed my foot on the shelf. “You are not going to climb that.” She said threateningly. I smiled at her. “Yes I am.” I informed her and then pushed myself off the ground. I waited a second to make sure the shelf wasn’t for some reason going to tip over.
I climbed a few steps and dropped the Transfiguration books down to Hermione. I climbed carefully back down the shelves and smiled victoriously. “I can’t believe you just did that.” Hermione said looking disappointed in my actions. I shrugged and began looking for the rest of our books. After finding and paying for all of our books Hermione, her parents, Percy, and my mom went looking for the other things we would need for this year. For no other reason than the simple fact that I felt like it I held Percy’s hand and swung our arms as he talked about things that would bore anyone else to death. Hermione and I though hung on every word.
“Didn’t you say that your wand had a phoenix feather core?” Percy asked after a while. “Yes, why?” I answered. “Well, only two other people have been known to ever that before.” He didn’t look happy about it but not mad either. “Really? Who?” I asked curiously. “Well, Harry is one.” Hermione answered slowly. “The other is…” She trialed off. “It was You-Know-Who.” Percy finished for her. “Hm.” I said as I pulled my wand out of my pocket and looked it over. The wood was rather dark and as I looked closer I noticed a willow branch winding up the wand with little carved leaves.
“Well, I guess I’m the first know witch to have a phoenix feather core.” My heart jumped with the realization. Maybe I’ll do great things too. After a while more of walking we had what we needed and Hermione and I decided to walk around a while by ourselves. “Be at the Leaky Cauldron by eight.” My mom ordered. “You too Hermione.” Her dad added. We rolled our eyes. “We will.” We said at the same time. We then walked off with no destination. “Oi, Rosella!” Someone called from inside one of the stores. I turned around to see Fred and George in Quality Quidditch Supplies.
“What?” I asked as I walked in the store. “We just wanted to introduce you to some people.” George said as he put an arm around my shoulder. Oh sure, I’m so sure that’s all. “Rosella, this is Oliver Wood.” Fred said with a smirk. “And he’s taken so don’t start anything.” George added as Fred attempted not to laugh. I blushed and pushed George off of me. “Um…hi.” I said nervously to Oliver. “Hi.” He said with a smile. “Well, well, another Weasley?” Someone said. “Leave her alone Flint.” Fred and George growled dangerously. “Yes, no time for games.” I said as I backed up to Hermione. “Bye.” She said hurriedly and we fled the store.
