I walked down the stairs with my chocolate brown eyes nervously pretending to be interested in other things than what was on my mind. I twirled a few strands of dark brown hair around my finger as I sat down at the table nearest to where my mom was cooking. I sighed and looked up at her knowing that I had to get this over with. I was only going to give it a shot once more. “Mom.” I said simply to get her attention. “Yes dear?” She said as she continued to keep busy with whatever she was doing. “Can I please go to Hogwarts this year?” I asked pleadingly.
Before she could answer Fred and George were at my side with their heads hovering just above my shoulders. “Come on mom.” Fred started. “Let her go.” George finished. “She’s thirteen; she needs to go to school in order to have a life.” Fred informed her. “And a proper career. “ George added. And so they continued; and a date, and friends, and be smarter than them. I shook my head at the last one. Only they would say that. Mom stopped cooking and looked at us with her hands on her hips. Her annoyed faced gradually broke into a smile.
“She’s going.” She said and nodded. My mouth dropped open. “Yes!” I exclaimed as I jumped up. The chair I was in slid back and rammed Fred and George into the wall. I hardly noticed though. I maneuvered my way around the table and gave my mom a bone crushing hug. “Yes, yes, dear, now get ready. We have to get to Diagon Ally before everything we need is gone.” She said after being released from my hug. With one last smile I darted off to my room. I grabbed some clothes and slid into the bathroom. “Out Percy! I’m going to Hogwarts!” I informed him as I forcefully shoved him out of the bathroom. I the locked the door so he couldn’t get in.
After taking a shower, getting dressed, and doing the other accentual tasks I ran back downstairs. I ate quickly and threw on a jacket. “Come on.” I said under my breath as I bounced on my toe with the list of things I would need in my hand. Soon everyone was ready and we hurried to Diagon Ally by floo powder. “Now, let’s get your wand first.” My mom said as we snaked our way through the crowed. There seemed to be more people than usual to me. Maybe it was because I was finally one of them or maybe there really were more people.
I was really excited about having my own wand. I had always used Percy’s old one because it saved us the trouble of buying one. The thing is though; Percy’s wand doesn’t like me very much. Most of the time it does the very opposite of what it’s supposed to. Needless to say magic hasn’t been fun for me at all. In fact it’s rather depressing. I know when I get my own wand though it’ll be a lot easier. We walked into Ollivanders and compared to the busy ally it was dead silent. I looked around the shop. There wasn’t really much to see except for ceiling high shelves stacked with dark wand boxes.
“Ah, is Miss Rosella finally going to Hogwarts?” Mr. Ollivander asked as we approached the counter. “Yes she is.” My mom answered. “I suppose a wand is order then.” He said shooting me a quick smile and then turning to the shelves. I noticed that mom looked a bit nervous. Odd, she was never nervous about getting wands before. It’s times like these that I wonder about my parents. What other reason would anyone have to act like this because of me?
