For seven years I listened to stories about Hogwarts and the ingenious pranks that Fred and George set up. I feel bad for some of their victims, having been one myself multiple times. Some of them though, totally deserved what they got. I’ve always thought that Fred and George should write a book about their pranks. I mean, none of them are the same and it certainly wouldn’t be difficult to fill the pages. Anyway, when it was only Ron, Ginny, and I at home we talked a lot about Hogwarts. We read books on magic and tried to perform the spells ourselves. They very rarely worked out well but occasionally we got lucky.
When it came time for Ron and me to go to Hogwarts I was told that I couldn’t. My parents said that they couldn’t afford it and I understood. I knew we didn’t have a lot of money and that’s why dad worked so many hours. Who was I to complain? After all, even with all the kids they already had, they took me in. I helped everyone get their things in Diagon Ally and get some things for myself as well. My mom told me that she would teach me what I needed to know for my first year at home.
In a chain of my mom and Ginny we all hurried through the train station. I watched in awe as Percy and then Fred and George passed through the pillar to Platform 9 3/4. I spotted a boy about my age with glasses and brown hair out of the corner of my eye but didn’t say anything. Finally he spoke up and asked how to get onto the platform. It was odd really. He seemed to be shocked at the fact that they had to run through a wall. I was surprised but it didn’t really come as a shock to me. But that wasn’t all. Under his dark mop of hair I could see a lightning bolt scar. It seemed oddly familiar, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it.
“Sorry Rosella. I’ll see you at Christmas.” Ron said as he hugged me quickly. Ginny and I wished the two boys good luck and went on our way. It wasn’t until we were alone in our baby blue Ford Anglia that I realized that it was just going to be mom, Ginny, dad, and me. Considering dad works so much us girls will be alone most of the time. We’ll have time to do girl things! And we did too. That whole year was great. No one came home from Hogwarts for Christmas but Charlie and Bill came home. It was one of the best Christmases I’ll probably ever have.
When everyone did come back for the summer Ron told me, and only me, about the Sorcers Stone. I couldn’t believe what he was telling me but something told me that I had to. Voldemort was dead, again, and Harry was alive, again, so I suppose it all turned out alright in the end. Well, despite the fact that Nicolas Flamel was going to die. I hadn’t asked mom if I was going to Hogwarts the next year but Fred and George wouldn’t shut up about it. It was rather annoying even though I wanted to know also. I wasn’t going to press on the subject.
So as it turns out I wasn’t going to be able to go to Hogwarts again. I sensed something different about this time around though. Ginny could go. I was sure it had something to do with the fact that I was adopted. I didn’t say anything, and I mean that in more ways than one. The first is that I didn’t state my opinion on the matter. The second is that I hardly spoke a word at all. If I didn’t have to say anything I simply didn’t. There was one night though that I changed my mind a bit as far as talking goes.
“I can’t go to Hogwarts so at least let me come with you.” I attempted to persuade Fred, George, and Ron. They were taking the car to go get Harry Potter because he wasn’t going to Hogwarts otherwise. Only one of us should have to suffer. “Fine, you can come.” Ron caved after a small amount of begging. “But only because you’re actually talking.” He added as I was putting on my shoes. I only rolled my eyes. The ride there in the car was anything but smooth but anything but boring. Getting Harry in the car though was an interesting task. His uncle fell right out the window.
“Hi.” Harry said still looking shocked after being thrown in the back seat with me. “Hello Harry.” I said through my laughter. The ride home is when we started getting a bit worried. Daylight was threatening to break the horizon and we still weren’t back. When we did get back home the sky was pink and orange and we ended up getting caught. Mom was furious of course but the anger didn’t last long. Fred and George’s faces were priceless though. I’ll never forget it.
